District Work Placements

Abbotsford School District is proud to offer the following Work Placement opportunities:

Work Experience 12

Students interested in Work Experience 12 should speak with the coordinator at their home high school. Work Experience 12 requires approximately 100-120 hours of paid or volunteer work.

Youth Work In Trades 11A/11B & 12A/12B

Grade 10, 11, 12 students:   Are you currently working in a skilled trade, maybe at a restaurant, on a construction site, in an automotive shop, or in a hair salon?  If so, you may be eligible to enroll in Youth Work In Trades and earn a $1,000 award. Speak with the coordinator at your home high school.

Work Study

Work Study is designed to meet the needs of students 15 years of age and older, in Grades 10-12+, with academic, social, cultural, and/or other challenges. Students are referred by Teachers, Counselors and Administrative staff.

Career Experiences in Abbotsford:

Secondary Fire Academy

Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service has partnered with Abbotsford School District to design a program that gives students an up close look into the daily work life of a career or paid on-call firefighter.

Junior Police Academy

Abbotsford Police Department has partnered with Abbotsford School District to provide a program that allows students to participate in different training scenarios with APD personnel.

Teen Grief Peer Support Training

Abbotsford Hospice Society offers this unique experience for students to learn about coping with loss and grief, and supporting others.
