Heavy Equipment Operator Application
The Heavy Equipment Operator program is offered at Yale Secondary (theory component), with seat time on equipment in a local pit. This program allows students to maximize opportunities for future career development in operating heavy equipment and construction while still in high school.
- Duration: Daytime, February – May of Grade 12 (includes classroom time & work in pit)
- Potential Total Credits: 20
- Prior to Program: Successful completion of
- all required Grade 10 & Grade 11 courses
- English Language Arts 12 and CLC 12
- Equipment & Textbook costs: Approximately $500
- Transportation: Responsibility of student
- Work Experience: 240 hours in trade OR Youth Work in Trades (480 hours)
- Certification Received: Heavy Equipment Operator Skilled Trades BC Final Exam
