Carpentry

UFV’s Carpentry program will prepare you for entry into the carpentry trade and the provincial apprenticeship program. Sample topics include:

  • Reading and interpreting drawings
  • Using specialty equipment
  • Site and building layout
  • Building concrete forms
  • Framing a building
  • Finishing internal and external details

Duration: September-March, Full-time Monday-Friday, 24 weeks

Location: UFV Trades and Technology Centre-Chilliwack

Prior to Program: Successful completion of

  • All grade 10 and Grade 11 graduation-required courses
  • English Language Arts 12 67% minimum
  • Math 11 (Foundations of Mathematics, Pre-calculus or Apprenticeship and Workplace Mathematics with 67% minimum unless program specific requirement)
  • Exemplary attendance and conduct
  • Competitive entry
