Chris (Yale Secondary Grad) is currently employed as an Automotive Service Technician apprentice at Magnuson Ford. He is exploring many possible career paths including heavy duty, automotive and marine mechanics. The AST program is offered at UFV Trades & Technology Centre in Chilliwack and allows students to maximize opportunities for future career development as a mechanic while still in high school.
- Duration: Daytime, September – May of Grade 12
- Prior to Program: Successful completion of
- all required Grade 10 & Grade 11 courses
- English Language Arts 12
- Transportation: Daily bus from Abbotsford Senior Secondary
- Equipment & Textbook costs: Approximately $500
- Work Experience: 240 hours in trade OR Youth Work in Trades (480 hours)
- Certification Received: Automotive Service Technician Level 1 (ITA Final Exam)
