Professional Cook (Level 1) Application

The Professional Cook Program (Level 1) is offered at Abbotsford Senior Secondary, and allows students to maximize opportunities for future career development in the Food Service and Hospitality while still in high school.

  • Duration: Daytime for 2 semesters. 
    Start in September or February of Grade 11, Grade 12 or Year 13 (must be under 19 years of age by July 1) 
  • Total Credits: 40 
  • Prior to Program: Successful completion of
    • all required Grade 10 courses
  • Transportation: Responsibility of student
  • Equipment & Textbook costs: Approximately $350
  • Work Experience: 240 hours in trade OR Youth Work in Trades (480 hours)
  • Certification Received: Professional Cook Level 1 Skilled Trades BC  (400 work-based training hours required for certification, as well as PC1 written and Practical Exams)
