Teen Grief Peer Support Training

Abbotsford Hospice Society will once again  be hosting the Teen Grief Peer Support Training program.  This is a competitive application process: there will be 16 seats for students in Grade 11 or 12 to participate this fall, and we hope to host a second cohort of 16 in the spring. This opportunity could be ideal for a student's 30 hour career-life exploration in CLC.
Students will be required to submit a Criminal Record Check (supplied by AHS) as well as provide proof of complete vaccination for COVID status (two doses) prior to commencing training.
Timeline:
Monday Oct 4th - applications due (to me or to Leanne Shuttleworth)
Tuesday Oct 12th - successful candidates notified
Tuesday Oct 19th, 3:15-4:15pm - orientation at AHS for successful candidates.  Paperwork, including criminal record check should be completed at this point.  Students will have until the day of training to provide proof of complete vaccination for COVID.
Tuesday Oct 26th - training commences and will be every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon until Thursday November 25th, from 3:15-5:30 pm.  Students will receive 20 hours of training and have an opportunity to volunteer (10 hours) for the Christmas Party at AHS in December.

Please download the application and submit to your school-based career facilitator or Michelle Myers (michelle.myers [at] abbyschools.ca) no later than Monday October 4th. Questions? Please contact Michelle Myers (604-615-4561) or Leanne Shuttleworth, Manager of Children & Youth Services at Abbotsford Hospice Society (leanne [at] abbotsfordhospice.org)
